Porto Ercole

Porto Ercole is located to the south-east and south west Grosseto with Orbetello, in the district of the province of Grosseto. Before coming to the country, we see two fortifications, the Fort Philippi of the sixteenth century and the Fort St. Catherine. The old town was surrounded by walls built by the Sienese during the time of the Renaissance. In the area of Sbarcatello we see the Star Fort, a sixteenth-century fortification to six points, each of which had warning function.
